A fairly early work by the prolific French artist and illustrator Gustave Dore. About’s famous tale, based on the kidnapping of the Duchesse de Plaisance (Δούκισσα της Πλακεντίας) by the brigand Bidichi (Μπίμπισης). Later half cloth binding, keeping the original paper covers and spine. Just occasional spotting, overall very fine copy. Contominas 5 (for an 1927 edition).
