Also including 60 engravings in text of which 56 portraits and a family tree. Praised work that deals with the history of the Knights Hospitaller starting from the foundations of the Order, its organization, biographies of the founder and Grand Masters of the Order as well as description of the siege of Malta (1565) and a description of Malta and the city of Valetta. Contemporary full calf with extensive rubbing and wear with some loss to spine. Inside browning, spotting and damp-staining. Some mainly marginal worming, water-staining mainly at the end. Engraved title page with additional paper on lower part bearing handwritten ex-libris inscriptions partly erased “Ex libris in Commandorio Suez”.
