Includes six etchings and 34 in-text lithographs created by Picasso exclusively for the 1934 edition, which was only distributed to members of the Limited Editions Club. Introduction and translation by Gilbert Seldes. Set in Caslon type and printed on Rives paper, this version of Aristophanes’ Lysistrata by Gilbert Seldes was considered by publisher George Macy to be one of the finest productions from his press. It is the only American publication with original Picasso etchings, which are among his most important in the classical style. Book and chemise in Excellent condition. Slipcase worn: part of upper edge missing and detached, lower edge teared, self-adhesive tape placed.
